Who makes up the Executive Branch in the New York Government?
The Governor, Lt. (Vice) Governor, the Attorney General, and the State Comptroller.
What is the Governor’s job?
The Governor’s job is to approve or veto the laws (can be from the Legislative Branch) and can also enforce the laws.
What is the Governor in charge of?
The Governor is in charge of the state. As well as the state’s national guard and the police, but is not higher than the president.
Does the Governor live in Albany?
The Governor has an office in Albany, but does not live there full time.
What is the Attorney General?
The Head Lawyer
What does the Attorney General do?
- Makes sure the laws respect the Constitution.
- Investigates high crimes in state. (Works with the FBI)
Why can’t the Attorney General be friends with the Governor?
If the governor commits a crime such as being involved with insurance or tax fraud, or revealing schemes the Attorney General will have to investigate them and that could be biased because you would most likely conceal information for your friend or not tell the truth.
What does the State Comptroller do?
The State Comptroller controls the money (how the taxes are spent).
What does the Executive Branch do?
Enforce the laws and carries out the laws.
What are the responsibilities of the Governor and Lt. Governor?
- To sign into laws or veto them. (from NY)
- Calls NY Militia.
- Appoints judges to NY Court of Appeals.

- Oversees New York states agencies, with different agencies assigned to each officer.

How many members are in the NY State Assembly and what is it based on?
There are 150 members in the NY State Assembly and it is based off the population in counties. (More populated counties have more representation in Albany)
How many members are in the NY State Senate and what is it based on or how many Senators from each county?
There are 63 members in the NY State Senate and each county gets one senator in Albany.

Reconsider and the only thing they do is say if law is Constitutional or Unconstitutional. If it can effect the entire state of NY.

How does the final decision work if the highest court doesn’t accept it? How about if they accept it?
If the highest court does not accept the case then the first courts decision is the final decision, but if the highest court accepts it they get final decision.

The Supreme Court.
What does the Judicial Branch do?
Make sure the laws are Constitutional or Unconstitutional. (Evaluates laws)
What are the responsibilities of the Judicial Branch or the New York Court of Appeals?
- Considers the constitutionally of New York laws.
- Hears court appeals.
What power construct is then made up for the Federal Government?
The U.S Constitution is a power construct.
