JFK was our youngest president at that time and prob the richest too bc he came from money. He was a WW2 war hero an “old war hero” who had back injuries and had to take many pills. There are many similarities between him and Lincoln. (His secretary was named Lincoln and Lincoln’s secretary was named Kennedy.)
-He was the only Catholic President
We make fun of his Boston accent (Cuber.)
- His thing was the New Frontier.- “ASk not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country” and that by the end of the decade that the US would put a man on the moon (we followed through with it on July 1969). He said both of these things in his inaugural address.
- During his presidency (august 1961) Berlin Wall went up overnight with snipers by Russians saying we want to keep the West out but really they wanted to keep the East Berliners from escaping to the west bc they had no Marshall money. The wall got covered in graffiti over time. Wall comes down in (1989 or 1991?) and it’s seen as the end of Communism bc there is not longer a split.
- With his accent when he tried to say “I’m a citizen of west Berlin” he accidentally said “I’m a jelly donut.” during a speech to west germany. when Jackie was shopping in Europe spending $10,000 on a dress.
His assassination had a big impact on country bc he was so popular and a champion for equal rights!
