The period between recorded history (3000BC) and fall of western Roman Empire (500AD)
Archeologists
A person specially trained to find out about the past by digging up and studying objects that have been left by previous civilisations
Artefact
Objects made or altered by people for example, weapons,tools,clothes,ornaments .

Conservation
The process of preserving something in its existing state, restoring it to its original state by removing what has been added by time, or adapting it to a new use that protects its cultural significance.
Chronological order
The sequence in which events happened through time
Dendrochronology
Tree ring dating - a method telling the age of wood.
Evidence
Information that helps prove or disprove something.
Heritage
All the things that we have inherited from previous generations and which we value.
Hypothesis
A theory that tries to answer questions about the past which can be tested against the evidence given by a historians sources.
Pre history
The time before people created written records of the past.
Primary source
A source that was created during the period the historian is investigating.
Radio carbon dating
Also known as carbon dating, this is a method of estimating the age of an object by measuring the amount of carbon 14 left in organic remains.
Secondary source
A source that was created after the period the historian is investigating.
Sources
Written and non written items from the past that help us to understand past events and people and information about what other people have thought about these items.
