United Nations
An intergovernmental organization established 24 October 1945, to promote international co-operation.
Declaration Of Human Rights
An international document that states basic rights and fundamental freedoms to which all human beings are entitled.
Violation
The action of violating someone or something
Refugee
A person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster.
Holocaust
Destruction or slaughter on a mass scale, especially caused by fire or nuclear war.
Concentration Camp
A place where large numbers of people, especially political prisoners or members of persecuted minorities, are deliberately imprisoned in a relatively small area with inadequate facilities
Secretary General
A title given to the principal administrator of some organizations, most notably the United Nations.
Secretary Council
An important division of the United Nations that contains five permanent members — the United States, Britain, China, France, and Russia

The highest governing body in a religious denomination
Scapegoat
A person or group that is made to bear blame for others.
Persecuted
Subject (someone) to hostility and ill-treatment, especially because of their race or political or religious beliefs.

Palestine

An area in the Middle East, between the W bank of the Jordan River and the E frontier of Israel
Partition
The action or state of dividing or being divided into parts.
Balfour Declaration
A statement, issued by the British government on November 2, 1917, favoring the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jews but without prejudice to the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine.
Zionism
The development and protection of a Jewish nation in what is now Israel
Palestine Liberation Organization
An organization founded in 1964 with the aim of creating a state for Palestinians
Intifada
The Palestinian uprising against Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, beginning in 1987.
