The Nile served the ancient Egyptians as an important resource for food and trade.
When did people settle in the Nile and what did they do?
People settled in the Nile around 8,000 years ago, they planted crops for food for their families.

Why is the Pharaoh important?
The ruler of ancient Egypt was called pharaoh . Pharaohs were looked upon as more than rulers. They were Gods chosen to lead the people and maintain order, and provided an important link between the Egyptian people and their Gods.

Slaves & peasants
What did slaves & peasants do?
Many of them worked labor jobs, like working on a farm or constructing buildings. Slaves were a big part of the labor workforce in ancient Egypt. Those who worked as house servants took care of the cooking, cleaning, gardening, and even the children.
Who is King Tutankhamun
King tut took the throne at 9 years old and ruled from 1323 BCE until his death in 1333 BCE. He ruled the country at a time of conflict, when battles over land raged between Egypt and the neighboring kingdom of Nubia.
