Why Britain created it: The colonies generated a lot of money, a lot of this coming from trade so the British passed these Acts to make them more money.
What it did: It made it so that colonists could only buy and sell certain goods to Britain. A few months later, they also made it so that goods had to pass through Britain to be taxed first. Colonists were also required to use British ships exclusively.
Colonial reaction: colonists at first were not bothered by it but as time went on, they got aggravated and some did not even follow it.

Why did Britain create this: To stop war with the Native Americans
What it did: It made it so that colonists could not settle west of the Appellation mountains.
Colonial response: Colonists were outraged by this because many of them had bought land in this blocked off area and now they were not getting it. Britain supported this border by employing soldiers to guard it.
Sugar Act

What it did
Why did Britain create this: To stop the smuggling of goods in and out of the colonies.
What it did: It lowered the tax on sugar and molasses and gave British soldiers the ability to search colonist ships.

What It did: Put a tax on almost all printed goods such as newspapers and playing cards.
Colonial reaction: Colonists organized boycotts and stopped buying these goods from Britain would do so until they repealed the act. Samual Adams also created the Sons of Liberty and colonists also attacked British tax collector’s.
Quartering Act
What it did
What it did: It made it so that the colonists were required to pay for British housing and also had to let them into their homes when needed.
Declaratory Act

What it did: Made it so that Britain could pass any law they wanted under any circumstance without colonist permission or vote.

What it did: It put a tax on items such as glass, tea, wine, and paper. The money collected from these taxes were used to pay colonial governors.
Colonial response: Daughters of Liberty were created which urged people to only buy goods made in the colonies. A letter called the Circular Letter was also created which urged Britain to repeal the act.

What it did: It put a tax on all tea and allowed British merchants to sell directly to shipowners.
Colonial response: Colonists rioted and dumped tea into the Boston harbor. Colonists also once again organized boycotts.

Why Britain created it: To punish the colonists for the Boston Tea Party.
What it did: Closed down the port of Boston, put the Quartering Act back into effect, reduced the abilities of the Boston government, and allowed British to arrest whomever they wanted without going to court.
Colonial response: People from other colonies sent food to Boston, giving them supplies.
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was an event where colonists were throwing rocks at British soldiers and in the fray, they fired on the colonists, killing five people. This was also used as propaganda with Paul Revere making a painting that depicted the event being much more violent than it actually was. The picture also made the colonists look innocent.
Boston Tea Party
This was en event where colonists dressed up as Native Americans and dumped tea into the Boston harbor. They decided to do this because to protest the Tea Act.
