History Of The Atom Flashcards
1
Q
What does the plum pudding model show?
A
A large positive charge with negative electrons throughout.
2
Q
What does Rutherford’s experiment show?
A
They fired alpha particles at a sheet of gold foil.
The majority of the particles went straight through, others got deflected slightly, others got deflected at massive amounts.
This suggests that the atom has a small positive centre, and then a large section all around which is negative.
3
Q
What does Bohr’s nuclear model show?
A
Atoms have a nucleus with an outer shell of electrons.
4
Q
What did Chadwick discover?
A
Neutrons
