Q

What does Rutherford’s experiment show?

A

They fired alpha particles at a sheet of gold foil.

The majority of the particles went straight through, others got deflected slightly, others got deflected at massive amounts.

This suggests that the atom has a small positive centre, and then a large section all around which is negative.
