A

Silt till -> fine
Sand till -> something in between
Gravel till -> coarse

A

Formation made out of till, for example, a hill.

Why does Finland have till?

A

Started from Ice age:

  • Ice age cleared all soil over the bedrock
  • Everything we have now is thanks to Ice age

What happened under the glacier?

A

Heavy pressure (3000 m of ice at the top)

  • bedrock was crushed
  • Ice was moving as it was expanding
  • Rivers run under the ice

What is terminal moraine?

A

Its a name for moraine of time when ice didn’t melt and temperature didn’t rise for several hundreds of years

A

Finland was covered with water

  • Land was compressed because of the heavy ice -> started to slowly rise
  • Old sea bed -> silt and clay formation
