GOOD:
-growth of cities
- new people who were good at certain jobs
- new ways to do things/ different methods & customs
BAD:
- overpopulation
- disease spreads
- more people competing for the same job
- higher crime rate
- nativists
Explain why women and employers were leading the temperance movement.
WOMEN:
- husbands come home a day after getting payed with only half the paycheck
- husbands beat the children and wives
- trying to eliminate family suffering
EMPLOYERS:
- profits are suffering
- men come in late
- men don’t pay attention to what they’re doing
- men end up damaging the machinery or the product
