In 1639 - 1640 the Scottish Puritans fought Charles to protect the right to practice Christianity their own way.

Archbishop Laud was arrested and put on trial. On the 10th of October he was declared guilty of treason (despite a lack of evidence) and executed on that day.

A rebellion of Irish Catholics against English rule in results of 4,000 to 12,000 deaths.
