A graduate of an AVMA-accredited program in veterinary technology

Graduate of a 4- year AVMA CVTEA accredited program who holds a baccalaureate degree from veterinary technician study, or a graduate veterinary technician with a B.S. degree in another program with studies in supervision, leadership, management, or a scientific area.
Veterinary Assistant
Person with less education and training than a vet tech. Comparative to a nurses’ aid. Most are trained on the job, or attend a short-term training. More appropriately called technician assistants.
Veterinarian
Doctor of veterinary medicine. Graduate of a 4-yr. AVMA accredited program.
-Must be licensed in the state he/she is practicing in. -DVM or VMD (What is the difference?)
