What is the difference between a source and evidence?
A source is a an un-definite lead and evidence is a definite answer.
What is Stratigraphy?
A distinct layer layer of material that builds up under the ground.
How can archeologists use stratigraphy?
If they know what they’re looking for, the layers can tell them about what time it was formed.
How does History and Archeology contribute to our understanding of the past?
History is using sources to hypothesise about what life was like in the past and Archeology is going out to find objects left from the past.
What are the 5 “W Words” we ask about an object from the past?
Who? What? Why? When? How?
What are the thing Archeologists do at a dig site?
Photograph findings, Map out where things were found, Dig up artefacts, Cart away soil, Brush dirt away from artifacts, measure artifacts.
Where does our word “History” come from?
The Greek word “Historia”.
