Why did the renaissance begin in Italy?
It was easy to trade with the Middle East, Greco-roman scholars came to Italy to study, and completion among Italian city states led to support of new ideas and styles.
What is the renaissance?
The rebirth of learning and education.
How did the renaissance impact the European society socially?
The renaissance changed from a triangular social structure to a rhombus social structure, creating a larger middle class.
How did the renaissance impact the European society culturally?
Writers began using their own languages instead of Latin so more people could read the pieces.
How did the renaissance impact the European society in a science perspective?
Humanism caused many people to study more philosophy and to think about things from a science point of view rather than religion.
What is humanism?
The belief that humans and logic could arrive at truth and that people can control their own life with what they believed in.
How did humanism lead to cultural changes in Europe during the renaissance?
People focused on humans and themes of human issues, rather than just religion. More people thought of earths problems as a science, less religion based.
What two factors led to the spread of renaissance ideas throughout Europe?
- trade routes throughout Europe carried cultural diffusion to and from Europe and other countries
