1. 1/3 of Canada’s gross income came from exports, but since the Great Depression, they were not allowed to export goods 2. On the prairies, there were many years of drought which caused crop failures. 3. Employers laid off employees, and the government aid was insufficient.

How did the government respond to the great depression? Was it effective?
Franklin Roosevelt provided $41.7 billion in funding for the domestic programs like the work relief program for unemployed people. The government did not allow any new immigrants unless they were British, American, certain classes, immediate family, members, or an agricultural list. These things did not help the economic decline, and instead of crippled it
