How to tell someone who is worried about palpitations that they have AF
Use no jargon
Start off by saying its very common and people live with it for a very long time very healthily
Explain that will definetely need a drug called warfarin or heparin as in AF the top parts of heart arent contracting properly so the blood pools in the heart and can become thick so give blood thinners
Then we need to slow down the heart
What does a physio do brief
Enables their mobility and ensures will be alright in their environment
What does an occupational therapist do
Ensure appropriate equipment at home for them to manage
What to do in scenario where patient doesnt want to see a PT or OT
Ask why they feel this way
What their predicament is, PC
Find out about how independant they are at home
Explain role of an OT and PT
Say that as doctor we ahve decided that you are mediaclly able to go home but theyre going to individualise their rehab and goals to promote functioning

Assess basic activities of daily living and advanced ADLs
Planning adaptations and modifications
Practise transfer from chair to toilet etc

Communication aids
Alarm assessment
Purposes of rehab
Support patient
Preserve function
Reduce dependancy
Prevent disability
