It comes from the word “hispanicus”. It directly translates to “from Spain”

No; being Hispanic is based on where you/your family comes from.

What is a “Latino”?
A Latino is a person with a Latin origin or descent.
Are people from Brazil considered Latinos? Also, are they Hispanic? Why or why not?
Brazilians are Latino, not Hispanic. They are considered Latino because Brazil isn’t a spanish speaking country.

People in the West use “Latino” and people in the eat use “Hispanic”

I think I am Hispanic. I was born in America and don’t speak Spanish, but my dads family is from Cuba, a Hispanic country.
