1
Q

Q

What is a hip pointer?

A

A contusion of the iliac crest and/or the greater trochanteric region of the femur following a direct impact or collision. American football and hockey are the most common sports that result in these injuries. Hematoma develops around the area and often includes varying degrees of bleeding into the hip abductor - sartorius, gluteus medius musculature.

Q

What is in the greater sciatic foramen?

A

Piriformis muscle. Superior gluteal nerve and arteries above piriformis. Below it has waaaaay more things :
1. Sciatic nerve
2. Inferior gluteal nerve and vessels
3. Pudendal nerve
4. Internal pudendal vessels
5. Nerve to both gemelluses, ob internus and quadratus femoris.
