hip flexion Flashcards
test myself
what are the muscles responsible for hip flexion
iliopsoas sartorius tensor fascia latae rectus femoris adductor longus pectineus
Insertion of iliopsoas
iliacus and psoas major - insert onto lesser trochanter at the top of the femur.
Both tendons fuse together.
function of iliopsoas
When the trunk is stabilized (Lateral rotation of the hip)
When legs are stabilized (flexion of the hip)
Origin of iliacus
Iliac fossa of the ilium (inner surface of ilium)
Insertion of iliacus
Onto lesser trochanter at the top of the femur
Function of iliacus
Flexion of the hip
Origin of psoas major
The anterior surface of the transverse process of vertebrae (T12-L5).
(sides of the thoracic and 5 lumbar spine)
Insertion of Psoas
Onto lesser trochanter at top of the femur
Function of Psoas
Flexion at the hip or Lumbar invertrabral joints
Origin of sartorius
Anterior superior iliac spine
Insertion of sartorius
Medial surface of the tibia, near tibial tuberosity
Function of sartorius
Hip of flexion
Assist in lateral rotation
Origin of Tensor Fascia latae
Iliac crest
The lateral surface of the anterior superior of the iliac spine
Insertion of Tensor Fascia latae
Iliotibial (ITB)
inserts on the lateral condyle of tibia
The function of Tensor Fascia Latae
Horizontal hip abduction
medial hip rotation
Assists the gluteus medius and minimus in hip adduction.
