What is DDH?
A
Congenital idiopathi Hip dysplasia
- cogenital dislocation: supero-laterally
- dysplastic acertabulum: hourglass deformity
Aetiology: Genetic ligament laxity (relaxin sensitivity) + mechanical factors in utero e.g breech + postnatal factors

Name two tests to help diagnose DDH?
A
- ortolani: relocation on abduction
- barlow: dislocation with adduction

Mx of DDH? Complications?
A
- Dislocation: Treatment is cosmetic and prevents trandelenburg
- dyspasia: prevents abnormal loading, subluxing and pain
- < 6months: Pavlik Harness
- 6-18 months: traction, closed reduction, spica,
- > 18 months: open reduction, pelvic osteotomy: prevents OA
- complication: AVN
