Incompetent cervix
mechanical defect in the cervix that results in painless cervical dilation in the second trimester that can progress to ballooning of the membranes into the vagina and delivery of a premature fetus
Multiple gestation
pregnancies with more than one fetus
Monozygotic twins
are from one zygote that divides in the first week of gestation
Dizygotic twins
result from fertilization of two eggs
Conjoined twins
may result from an aberration in the twinning process ascribed to incomplete splitting of an embryo into two separate twins
Hyperemesis Gravidarum
vomiting during pregnancy that is so severe it leads to dehydration, electrolyte, and acid-base imbalance, starvation ketosis, and weight loss.
Medical Nutritional Therapy (MNT)

Preeclampsia and Eclampsia Syndrome
Preeclampsia is a systemic disease with hypertension accompanied by proteinuria after the 20th week of gestation
Preeclampsia superimposed on chronic hypertension
Hypertensive women who develop new-onset proteinuria; proteinuria before the 20th week of gestation; or sudden increase in proteinuria or BP or platelet count <100,000 in women with HTN and proteinuria before 20 weeks gestation.
