Paleolithic Age
The Old Stone Age that began with the earliest chipped stone tools made by hunters and gatherers.
Neolithic Age
The New Stone Age, beginning around 10,000 years ago with the development of agriculture.
civilization
The intellectual, material, and cultural development of organized human society. The first civilizations are defined by cities, writing, monumental architecture, organized religion, and organized government.
polytheism
Belief in and worship of more than one god.
god-king
A king who is believed to be an all-powerful, living god.
monotheism
Belief that there is only one supreme god.
idols
An image of a god used as an object of worship. In common usage, a false god.
parochialism
A narrow restricted outlook focused on a specific place or on a group of people who share a particular history or culture.
universalism
- The unity and salvation of all people under God. 2. Membership of all humanity in a worldwide community.
messianic age
Hopes of ancient Hebrews for an era of peace and justice to be inaugurated by the anticipated Messiah.
