health status
an individuals or a populations overall health, taking into account various aspects such as life expectancy, amount of disability, and levels of disease risk factors.
life expectancy
indication of the number of years remaining to a person if death rates do not change
mortality
number of deaths caused by a particular disease, illness or other environmental factor
morbidity
ill health in an individual and the levels of ill health in a population of a group
rates of hospitalisation
the number of patients who experience an episode of admitted patient care
psychological distress
an individuals overall level of psychological strain or pain, and the unpleasant feelings and emotions an individual experiences.
core activity limitation
refers to needing assistance with self-care, mobility and/or communication.
burden of disease
a measure of the impact of diseases and injuries
measures the gap between the current health status and an ideal situation
measured in DALY
DALY
Daily Adjusted Life Year
one DALY = one year of healthy life lost due to premature death or time lived with illness of injury.
YLL
Years of Life Lost
fatal component of burden of disease.
years of life lost due to death
YLD
Years Lost due to Disability
the non fatal component of burden of disease
years of life lost due to diseases of injuries
incidence
the number or rate of new cases of a particular condition during a specific time
prevalence
the number or proportion of cases of a particular disease or condition peresnt in a population at a given time.
