Why is a balanced and varied diet important for health? (15)

A
  • low saturated fat, reduces risk for CHD and obesity.
  • low salt, >risk of high BP and strokes
  • high fiber, >obesity & <digestion, reducing bowel disease, constipation.
  • low sugar >dental issues, reducing caries.
    -high fruit & veg, >cancer risk, ACE vits (antioxidants)

*too much/too little of food groups can contribute diet related disease.
*does stop diseases but reduces risk.
