It is the position that it has at the beginning of the story.
Status
The hero or protagonist lives in the ordinary world and receives a call to go on an adventure.
Call to Adventure
Our hero receives help from other character.
Assistence
This stage interrupt the comfort of the Hero’s Ordinary World, presenting a challenge or quest that must be undertaken.
Departure
The road of trials is a series of tests that the hero must undergo to begin the transformation.
Trial
The initial plan to take on the central conflict begins, but setbacks occur that cause the hero to try a new approach or adopt new ideas.
Approach
The central life-or-death crisis, confronts
this most difficult challenge, and experiences “death”.
Crisis
The hero overcomes the previous obstacle and gets something valuable, either an object or knowledge.
Treasure
This is the final stage of the Hero’s journey in which he returns home to his Ordinary world a changed character.
Result
The reward earned on the Hero’s Journey.
Return
He will have grown as a person, learned many things, faced many terrible dangers and even death but now looks forward to the start of a new life.
New life
Conflicts are resolved in some way (for better or worse) and loose ends are tied up sufficiently.
