What is textual criticism?
An exegetical method that focuses on the world of the text (synchronic). It involves technical knowledge of Greek.

Is this the original text?

Codex Vaticanus, Codex Alexandreianus, Codex Sinaiticus.
What is narrative criticism?
An exegetical method that focuses on the world of the text (synchronic).
What question does narrative criticism ask?
What type of document is in front of us? What is the literary form (plot, characterization, setting, point of view, repetition of sequences, chiastic patterns, implied author, implied reader)?
What is the critique of narrative criticism?
It is not concerned with historicity which can encourage literalism/ fundamentalism.
What is rhetorical criticism?
A method of analyzing the strategies used by the author to make his text effective. It focuses on the world of the text (synchronic).
What is rhetoric?
The art of composing discourse aimed at persuasion. A literary device used by an author to persuade, convince, convert or call people to action.
What are the types of rhetoric or modes of argument?
Judicial - to accuse or defend (in court); deliberative - to advise; epidecictic or demonstrative - to praise or to blame, please or inspire people.
