what is herd immunity?
A
- the ability of a population to protect its individuals from disease
- if enough people in the population are vaccinated and immune to a particular pathogen, the spread of disease can be slowed or even stopped in that population, even if not everyone is vaccinated
- protects people in the population who are not vaccinated
