Jin Yin Hua
金银花
Jin Yin Hua
Taste: Sweet Cold 甜,寒
Channel: 肺,大肠,胃
Common Dosage: 10-15 g
- Relieve toxicity and vent heat: All levels of Warm-Febrile Disease.
- Protective Level
- Qi Level
- Nutritive and Blood Level
2. Relieve toxicity and reduce swelling:
- Heat toxicity with sores and abscesses.
- Intestinal abscess with abdominal pain.
3. Cool the blood, relieve toxicity and alleviate dysentery for heat toxicity with bloody dysentery.
Characteristics: Cold to clear heat and relieve toxicity, aromatic to vent teaht and disperse outward, it clears heat from the Heart and Stomach to relieve toxicity. It disperses wind-heat from the Lung channel to release the exterior. It can be used for heat toxicity with either sores or caruncles, and all levels of Warm-Febrile Disease. Charred form can cool the blood and alleviate dysentery.
Lian Qiao

Taste: Bitter, slightly cold; 苦,偏寒
Channel: Lung, Heart, Gallbladder
Common dosage 6-15g
- Relieve toxicity and vent heat:
- Exterior wind-heat or the initial stage of Warm-Febrile Disease with fever, headache, slight thirst and sore throat.
- Heat lodged in the Pericardium with high fever, irritability and loss of consciousness.
2. Relieve toxcity, reduces, abscess and dissipate nodules:
- Heat toxicity with sores, abscesses, boils and swelling.
- Scrofula.
Characteristics: Light, ascending and floating to disperse, Lian Qiao disperses the exterior and vents the interior. It clears excess fire from the Heart channel, relieves toxicity and reduces swelling. It is used for exterior wind-heat, heat lodged in the nurtritive level of Warm0Febrile Disease, and for pathogenic factors trapped in the PC. It is effective in treating sores, carbuncles and swelling, and its regarded as the imperical herb for Chuang Jia
Da Qing Ye
大青叶

Taste: Bitter, very cold;
Channel, Heart, Lung, Stomach 心,肺,胃
Common Dosage: 10-15
Precaustion Contraindicated in SP and ST def cold.
- Cool the blood and reduce purpura and petechia;
* Flaring fire in both qi and blood levels of Warm-Febrile Disease with high fever, loss of consciousness, purpura and petechia or rashes, hematemesis, subcutaneous and mucosa hemorrhage.
2. Clear heat and relieve toxicity:
- Excess heat and fire toxcity with swollen sore throat, sores in the mouth and tongue.
- Toxic swelling, sores and carbuncles; topically apply the grounded fresh herb.
- Early stage of Warm-Febrile Disease.
Characteristics: Relieving toxicity, Da Qing Ye is especially effective in cooling the blood and reducing purpura and petechia. It enters both the qi level and blood level; it is often used for flaring fire in both qi and blood levels of Warm-Febrile Disease, and patterns of excess heat and fire toxicity.
Pu Gong Ying

Common Dosage 10-30g double if fresh.
- Relieve toxicity and reduce abscess:
• Breast abscess, use fresh form alone either by taking it orally or by applying the juice topically.
• Lung abscess.
• Intestinal abscess.
• Heat toxicity with sores and abscesses. - Clear heat and drain dampness:
• Damp-heat jaundice or Heat-type of Painful Urinary Dysfunction.
[Characteristics] Relieves toxicity, reduces abscesses and dissipates nodules. Pu Gong Ying is used for any pattern of heat toxicity with sores and abscesses. It is the primary herb for breast abscess
Zi Hua Di Ding

Taste Bitter; acrid, cold;
Channel: Heart, Liver
Common Dosage 10g-30g Double if Fresh form
Clear heat and relieve toxicity:
• Ding, erysipelas and any pattern of heat toxicity with sores and abscesses, such as breast abscess, etc.
[Characteristics] With similar effects as Pu Gong Ying, Zi Hua Di Ding has a stronger effect in relieving toxicity. It is the primary herb for Ding*.
Yu Xing Cao

Taste: Acrid, slightly cold;
Channel: Lung
Common Dosage: 10-30g
- Relieve toxicity, reduce abscess, and promote purulent discharge:
- Lung abscess with coughing up thick yellow-green sputum or sputum mixed with purulent blood.
- Lung heat with coughing up thick yellow sputum.
- Heat toxicity with sores and abscesses.
- Used for Heat-type of Painful Urinary Dysfunction.
Bai Jiang Cao
败酱草

Taste, Acrid, bitter, slightly cold;
Channel Liver, Stomach, Large Intestine
Common Dosage 6-15g
I. Relieve toxicity, reduce abscess, and promote purulent discharge:
• Intestinal abscess.
- Unsuppurated.
- Suppurated
• Lung abscess with coughing up thick yellow-green sputum or sputum mixed with purulent blood.
- Dispel blood stasis and alleviate pain for post-partum blood stasis with sharp pain in the lower abdomen.
ICharacteristics] Relieves toxicity, promotes purulent discharge, invigorates the blood and reduces abscess. Bai Jiang Cao is the primary herb for intestinal abscess. It also drains the constrained heat from the Lung.
Ren Dong Teng

Property: Sweet , cold
Channel: Lung, Stomach, Large Intestine
Common Dosage 10-20G
- Eliminate wind, dampness and heat form channels to alleviate pain from Wind Damp Heat Bi syndrome with red, swollen and painful joints.
Caustion: Don’t use while SP, ST cold Def
Characterstic: Also Know as Yin Hua Teng, although having similar proerties and effects as Jin Yin Hua, Ren Dong Teng has milder effect in relieving toxicity. Nevertheless, it eliminates wind, dampness and heat from the channels to alleviate pain for Wind-damp-heat Painful Obstruction with red, swollen and painful joints that are warm to touch and difficult to move. 10-20g
Ban Lan Gen

- Clear heat relieve toxicity:
* Warm febriel disease with heat lodge in Qi and Blood levels: fever, sore throat, rashes, swelling face, carbuncles and sores. - Cool the bood

Ye Ju Hua

Si Gua Luo

Common Dosage: 4.5-9g
- Unblock Channel, Invigorate Blood and Expel Wind:
- For Bi syndrome with painful, stiffness joints, cheast and hypochondraic distending pain.,
- Blocked Laction.
Zi Bei Tian Kui

Property: Slightly bitter, small toxicity, cold,
Channel Enter: Lung, Bladder
Common dosage: 15-30g
- Clear heat relieve toxicity, invigorate blood reduce swelling, anti cancer:
- Sore and swelling throat
- Erysipela, abscess, and sores
- Rashes with itching
- Promote urination unblock Lin
* Heat Lin, or Edema
Wan Nian Qing
万年青
Wan Nian Qing
Property: Bitter, slightly sweet, cold, small toxicity
Channel: Lung
Common Dosage: 3-8 g
- Clear heat relieve toxicity:
Diphtheria, sore and swelling throat, hemorrhoid, carbuncles, snake bite.
- Strengthen heart promote urine:
Heart failure with Edema
- Cool blood and sstop bleeding:
Any king of bleeding caused by heat.
