What was Herbert Hoover’s approach to the economy?
1- Believed in laissez-faire (minimal government interference).
2- Encouraged voluntary cooperation instead of direct government aid.
3- Opposed direct relief, fearing it would create dependency.
How did Herbert Hoover respond to the Great Depression?
1- Created the Reconstruction Finance Corporation (RFC) to support banks & businesses.
2- Funded public works projects, like the Hoover Dam.
3- Refused direct aid, relying on businesses to self-regulate.
Why was Hoover unpopular during the Great Depression?
1- People blamed him for not doing enough to fix the crisis.
2- Shantytowns of the homeless were called “Hoovervilles”.
3- Used the military to remove the Bonus Army, worsening his image.
