Hepatitis
Inflammation of the liver w/acute viral hepatitis being most common cause. Other causes are certain drugs like alcohol. Chemicals. And autoimmune liver disease.
Types of hepatitis
A. B. C. D. E. G
Hepatitis A (HAV)
Transmitted by fecal oral route and occurs in crowed living conditions and poor sanitation
Hepatitis B (HBV)
Is of great concern for healthcare workers because it’s blood borne and may be transmitted through accidental needle stick. It also occurs in IV drug users and sexual contact.
Hepatitis C ( HCV)
Spreaded percutaneously such as IV drug users. Transfusion with infected blood products and sexual contact
Hepatitis D ( HDV)
Cannot survive on its own. Needs B virus to reciplicate
Hepatitis E (HEV)
Transmitted by fecal oral route. Caused by drinking contaminated water
Hepatitis G (HGV)
Spreaded parenternally or sexually
How many phases of symptom
Three
1st symptom( preicteric )
Jaundice. Anorexia. Weight loss. Malaise. Headache. Low grade fever. Joint pain and skin rashes may last 1-21 days
Phase 2 (icteric)
Jaundice is classic feature. Lasting 2-4 weeks
Phase 3 (post icteric ) or convalesent
Malaise. Fatigue. Lasting 2-4months
