First French War (1512-1514)
England capture territory in France: Therouanne and Tournai and the peace treaty restored the French pension and arranged the marriage of Mary (Henry’s sister) to Louis
Treaty of London (1518)
perpetual peace, all counties signed separately with Wolsey by important powerful countries such as France, HRE, Spain, Burgundy, and Italian states. Enhanced Wolsey and Henrys reputation.

Grand European festival set up by Henry near Calais, in order to meet with Francis I. However it was costly and didn’t achieve anything of value
The second French war (1522-1525)
- Both Henry and Charles were poor allies, 1523 England was forced to send an army to France but Charles bonded England as he wanted to capture Milan
- Charles goes onto capturing Francis in the Battle of Pavia (1525) which increases Charles power
What caused relations with Spain to deteriorate?
Charles V sacks Rome in 1527 and stops Henry from getting an annulment
