her coronation was delayed until 1487 - he was determined to stake his own individual claim to the throne

it was traditional for the King to hear petitions and cases and to grant justices and favours. In this way, he could demonstrate his Royal power and presence to his subjects
rewards for Nobility
made John de Vere the Earl of Oxford and Lord Thomas Stanley the Earl of Derby
-these appointments gave Henry two loyal supports in the East Midlands and North-West
his principal aim
was to restore royal authority in a realm recovering from the War of the Roses
