Hemodynamic: Factors Affecting Blood Flow Flashcards
Blood pressure and how it is determined.
Contraction of the ventricles. The hydrostatic pressure exerted by blood on the wall of a blood vessel. Is determined by cardiac output, blood volume and vascular resistance
Blood flow
Is the volume of blood that flows through any tissue in a given time period
Systemic vascular resistance
Total peripheral resistance TPR. Refers to all of the vascular resistance offered by systemic blood vessels
Systolic blood pressure(SBP)
The highest arterial pressure during systole
Diastolic blood pressure DBP
The lowest arterial pressure during systole
Blood pressure is determined by three factors
Cardiac output, blood volume and vascular resistance
An increase in blood pressure is causes by
An increase in cardiac output, blood volume and systemic vascular resistance( also called total peripheral resistance)
