Hemodialysis
Requires vascular access and based off manifestations: (not GFR)
Renal insufficiency
Acute kidney injury
Chronic kidney disease
Drug toxicity
Persistent hyperkalemia
Hypervolemia that does not respond to diuretics
Client has fluid volume changes, electrolyte & pH imbalances, nitrogenous waste
FVO, neurologic changes, bleeding, uremia
Pre procedure for Hemodialysis & client education
Check for informed consent
Use temp hemodialysis dual-lumen catheter until provider inserts long term device
Assess patency
Avoid BP, admin of injections at the site
Assess vital signs, lab values, and weight
Discuss meds to hold with provider until after dialysis
Client education:
Will be needed 3x a week, 4-5 hours, insertion of two needles one artery and other in vein
