A
A patient who is treated with amoxicillin returns in 48 hours without improvement (complains of ear pain, bulging TMP). The next step is to discontinue the amoxicillin and start the patient on a second-line antibiotic (for otitis media) such as amoxicillin-clavulanate (Augmentin) BID × 10 to 14 days.
