What was agreed at Helsinki?
A
- Security - all the countries recognised Europe’s frontiers. This meant that the Soviet Union had to accept the existence of West Germany.
- Co-operation - There was a call for closer economic, scientific and cultural links which would hopefully lead to even closer political agreement.
- Human Rights - Each country who signed agreed to respect human rights and basic freedoms such as thought, speech, religion and freedom from unfair arrest.
