“Let’s talk about … “ This phrase omits the word “about”
For example: Let’s talk money. Let’s talk lunch. Let’s talk numbers.
Brainstorm
People produce ideas and ways of solving problems. Any idea is encouraged, no matter how silly or strange. Oftentimes, people can build a workable solution from the strangest suggestions.
Arrange
Organize
“I’m going to arrange a meeting with her staff tomorrow.”
Call a meeting
You decide a meeting is necessary.
“I am calling a meeting for 3:00 pm today.”
Hold or run a meeting
Be in charge of what goes on in a meeting
I’m going to hold a meeting because I must let them know about the change happening next week.”
Attend a meeting
A formal way of saying “Go to a meeting.”
Let’s attend the meeting together.
Course of action or Plan of action (POA)
The set of actions to be taken.
“What is the best course of action?” or “Show me the POA from the meeting I missed, please.”
Terminate
Bring to an end, to finish, to fire
“Let’s terminate the relationship with our supplier because it isn’t going well.”
“We terminated the project on Monday.”
“I’m sorry, but we have to let you go. Here are your termination papers.”
On account of/that
Formal way to say “because”
“We’re letting you go on account of your actions yesterday.”
“I can’t have lunch with you on account that my supervisor needs me to work through lunch.”
Fail to deliver
When someone does not do what they promised to do
“If you fail to deliver again, we will remove you from this project.”
Goods (noun)
Things that are produced to be sold
In a candy factory, the goods are candies.
In a toy factory, the goods are toys.
Realm
A general area of knowledge, activity, or thought
“It is in the realm of possibility to have flying cars within a year.”
“Within the realm of work, certain conduct is expected.”
Scratch the surface
Explain briefly without details
“We didn’t scratch the surface on that.” - We didn’t get into the details of that.
“This meeting is to scratch the surface of the upcoming policy changes.” - This meeting is to get an overview of the upcoming changes.
