Q

How can you stop an ice cream headache?

A

“Press your tongue flat against the roof of your mouth, covering as much as you can. “Since the nerves in the roof of your mouth get extremely cold, your body thinks your brain is freezing, too,” says [Ben Abo, an emergency medical- services specialist at the University of Pittsburgh.] “In compensating, it overheats, causing an ice-cream headache.” The more pressure you apply to the roof of your mouth, the faster your headache will subside.” (Source: Men’s Health )

Q

Should you urinate on a jellyfish sting?

A

No. R emove any visible tentacles, using gloves if possible. The area of the sting should be rinsed with household vinegar. The acetic acid of the vinegar can block discharge of the remaining nematocysts (stinging cells) on the skin and should be applied liberally. If vinegar is not available, salt water can be used to wash off the nematocysts. In lab tests, urine, ammonia, and alcohol can cause active stinging cells to fire, which means they can make the sting worse.
