Spot Heights
A
Spot heights give the exact height of the point on a map. On the map they are seen as black dots with numbers next to it. It is also shown as a triangulation pillar (a triangle with a dot in it).

Layer colouring
A
Another name for this is layer shading. By bands of different coloured areas of different heights are shown. It is used to show height in many atlases

Contours
A
Contours are lines drawn on a map (usually in brown) and they join places which have roughly the same height. The heights are given in metres.
