FIrst Line Treatment of AOM
Amoxicillin 80-90mg/kg/day Q12 for 10 days

- Cefdinir 14 mg/kg/day for 10 days ($$$)
- Clindamycin 30-40 mg/kg/ay Q8 for 10 days
- Ceftriaxone 50 mg/kg daily x 3 days

- Severe bilateral purulent discharge

- Symptoms can be mild to moderate
- Mild hyperemia
- Moderate mucoid drainage
Workup for neonatal conjunctivitis
- Eye cultures
- Septic workup
- CBC with differential
- Basic Metabolic Profile
- Lumbar puncture
- CSF: culture with gram stain, viral
culture, herpes PCR, glucose,
protein, cell count - Urinalysis and Urine Culture by
catheter - Chest X-ray
- ID Consult
- Admit

- Topical erythromycin PLUS
- Ceftriaxone 25-50 mg/kg once (max

dose (max 1,000mg/dose)
