Mortality
The number of death in a population in a given period
Mortality rate
‘death rate’ the neasure of the proportion of a population who die in a one year period (per 100,000)
infant mortality
the rate of deaths of infants before their 1st birthday (per 100,000)
U5 mortality
the number of children that die before their 5th birthday (per 100,000)
Maternal mortality
the number f mother who die as a result pf pregnancy (per 100,000)
Morbity
Ill health in an individual and levels of ill health within a population
incidence
the number of new cases of a disease or condition in a population at a given time
Prevalence
the number or proportion of cases of a particular disease or condition present in a population at a given time
Burden of disease
Mortality and morbidity. It measure the gap between current health and a ideal situation where everyone lives free of disease and disability
DALY
Disability adjusted life years - YLL & YLD
YLL
Years of life lost - how many years of expected life are lost due to premature death
YLD
Years lost due to disability - how many healthy years of life are lost due to disease, injury or disability
Health Status
individual or populations health taking into account various aspects such as life expectancy, amount of disability and levels of diseases risk factor.
