Heat Related Emergency
A
Heat Cramps and Heat Exhaustion
1) O2
2) Remove from hot environment and cooldown patient
3) Monitor Temp
4) If Mild to moderate and pt conscious encourage pt to drink fluids
If severe or altered LOC then administer fluid challenge 500cc NS
Heat Stroke
1) O2
2) Remove pt from hot environment and aggressively cool pt with water, air, ice packs
3) Monitor Temp & Cool Pt to 102 and remove ice packs
4) If pt is hypotensive then give fluid challenge of 500 NS
