Hearth and Brain Anatomy Physiology Basics Flashcards
What are the different lobes of the brain and their function?
1. Frontal Lobe
Frontal Lobe Location: Front of the brain, behind the forehead
Functions:
Motor controls voluntary movements (Via the primary motor cortex)
Cognition and Decision-Making: Involved in planning, problem solving, and decision making.
Language Production: Includes Broca’s area (Speech production, primarily in the left hemisphere.)
Personality and Behavior: Regulates emotional expression, social behaviour and impulse control.
There are different areas within frontal lobe.
Areas of frontal lobe: Primary motor cortex, Premotor Cortex, Prefrontal Cortex, Broca’s Area
What are the different lobes of the brain and their function?
2. Parietal Lobe
Location: Upper middle part of the brain behind the frontal lobe
Functions:
Sensory processing, tactile sensation like touch pain, pressure and temperature.
Special awareness, helps in understanding of special relationships of objects and navigation.
Integration of Sensory Input: Combines sensory data for perception and recognition.
