heart structure Flashcards
how many chambers does the heart have
4
what are the 4 chambers
right atrium, right ventricle, left atrium and left ventricle
the heart is pumped made of cardiac muscle which is myogenic what is the example
it will beat without any nervous stimulation (on its own). these muscle cells are able to depolarize
what seperates the left and right ventricle
muscular wall called a septum
wht is the name of the upper chamber
atrium
what is the name of the lower chamber
ventricle
where does deoxygenated blood return from in the body (1.)
returns from the body in the vena cava (vein) and enters the right atrium
the blood then passes, (2.)
via atrio-ventricular valve (tricuspid valve) into the right ventricle and out, via semi-lunar valve, into the pulmonary artery
the blood now passes (3.)
passes through the lungs and return to the left atrium via the pulmonary vein
the blood passes through a second atrio-ventricular valve (biscuspid valve) (4.)
into the left ventricle and then through the semi-lunar valve into the aorta and then onto the body tissue
