When should CTCA should be done to investigate heart failure?
If there is low suspicion - if high suspicion should have angiogram
Should stress testing be used to investigate for underlying ischaemia for heart failure?
not recommended - patient has difficulty achieving adequate level of stress
What investigation should be done in patients with increased LV wall thickness?
cardiac MRI
PET scan may be useful
Which medications should all patients with HFrEF be on?
ACE inhibitor, beta blocker, MRA
What is the pharmacological management for patients with HF with EF 41-49%?
Limited data to support use of any of the drugs
Can still use ACE/beta blocker/MRA/ARB
Should patients who recover their ejection fraction continue on neurohormonal antagonists?
yes
Are there any drugs with survival benefit in HFpEF?
no
Which patients have more benefit from ICD - patients with IHD or dilated cardiomyopathy?
IHD - but ICD still indicated in DCM
When should IV iron be given in heart failure?
if ferritin < 100 or if ferritin 100-300 and transferrin saturation < 20%
