Atherosclerosis
stiffening of blood vessels due to a build-up of fatty plaques

reduction in blood flow to the heart
Acute Coronary Syndrome
any one of several heart conditions
Angina
condition marked by severe pain in the chest that often spreads to the shoulders, arms, and neck, caused by inadequate blood supply to the heart
Symptoms of cardiac compromise
chest pain that is around the sternum and radiates down to the abdomen, arms, shoulders, jaw, and back, it can also be general chest discomfort or backache usually between the shoulder blades
Conditions indicating heart failure
pupils that are dilated/sluggish, cyanosis of mucous membranes, jugular venous distension, wheezing/crackles upon auscultation, peripheral edema
Common signs and symptoms of cardiac compromise
discomfort in the chest, abdomen, left arm, shoulder, or jaw
sudden diaphoresis
shortness of breath/coughing
cool, pale skin
lighheadedness
