Heart Channel Flashcards
the heart channel
heart shao yin
the heart houses the
shen
the heart opens into the
tongue
the heart governs
sweating
the heart manifests in the
complexion
the heart channel originates in the
heart
the heart channel ends
on the radial side of the little finger at HT 9
Pathway of the heart channel
emerges from the blood vessels surrounding the heart and DESCENDS through the diaphragm to connect with the SMALL INTESTINE. ASCENDS along the esophagus to the tissues surrounding the EYE. Another branch travels to the LUNGS and then emerges at the axilla at HT 1. It travels through the arm/palm to end at HT 9
the heart channel treats
Chest and heart pain Disorders of heart rhythm Shen disturbances Tongue and speech Throat, eyes, face, complexion
the heart luo channel
Separates from the heart channel at HT5 and connects with the SI channel
Follows the HT channel to the heart organ and continues to the ROOT OF THE TONGUE AND EYE
the heart divergent channel
Separates from the primary channel at the axillary fossa
Enters the chest and connects with the heart
Ascends along the THROAT and emerges on the face and connects with the SI channel at the INNER CANTHUS
the heart sinew channel
Originates at the radial aspect of the little finger and binds to the pisiform bone
Ascends to bind at the medial aspect of the elbow and then at the axilla
Enters the axilla, intersects the lung sinew channel and travel medially across the breast region to the center of the chest
Descends across the diaphragm to END AT THE UMBILICUS

HT 7
heart luo point
HT 5

HT 6
HT 1 location
(Caution of axillary artery and medial insertion may puncture lung)
Location: In the depression at the center of the axilla
HT 1 function
ACAP, unbinds the chest, benefits the arm
HT 2 location
(Caution of brachial artery)
Location: 3 cun proximal to the medial end of the transverse cubital crease connecting HT1 and HT3
HT 2 function
ACAP
HT 3 location
Midway between PC3 and the medial epicondyle of the humerus, at the medial end of the transverse cubital crease when the elbow is fully flexed
HT 3 function
ACAP, calms spirit, transforms phlegm, clears heat
HT 4 location
On the radial side of the tendon of flexor carpi ulnaris, 1.5 cun proximal to HT7
HT 4 function
Calms spirit, benefits voice, relaxes muscles and sinews
HT 5 location
On the radial side of the tendon of flexor carpi ulnaris, 1 cun proximal to HT7
HT 5 function
ACAP, calms spirit, regulates heart rhythm, benefits tongue (loss of voice and tongue stiffness affecting speech)
HT 6 location
On the radial side of the tendon of flexor carpi ulnaris, 0.5 cun proximal to HT7
HT 6 function
Regulates heart blood, calms spirit, moderates acute conditions, CLEARS DEFICIENCY HEAT, and alleviates night sweating, speech problems
HT 7 location
(Caution for the ULNAR ARTERY and nerve)
Location: At the wrist joint on the radial side of flexor carpi ulnaris, in the depression at the proximal border of the pisiform bone
HT 7 function
calms spirit, regulates and tonifies the heart (blood and yin), benefits voice
HT 8 location
On the palm, in the depression between the 4th and 5th metacarpal bones, where the tip of the little finger rests when a fist is made
HT 8 function
CLEARS HEAT from the small intestine, calms spirit, regulates and calms heart qi
HT 9 location
On the dorsal aspect of the little finger, at the junction of lines drawn along the radial border of the nail and the base of the nail, approximately 0.1 cun from the corner of the nail
HT 9 function
Revives consciousness, clears heat and benefits the tongue, eyes, and throat, regulates heart qi and calms spirit
which point is the shen men
HT 7
which points are medial to the flexor carpi ulnaris
HT 4, HT 5, HT 6, HT 7
which point do you have to be careful of the axillary artery, or medial insertion may puncture the lung
HT 1
which point do you have to be careful of the brachial artery
HT 2
where does the heart luo channel end
the root of the tongue and eye
which tissue does the heart channel come in contact with
the eye
