Heart And Stuff Flashcards
Cardiac output
Cardiac output = heart rate times stroke volume
Heart rate
Beats per minute
Stroke volume
Volume of blood pumped by one ventricle each time it contracts.
Litres/beat
Cardiac output
Total volume of blood pumped by ventricle every minute.
Litres/min
Heart structure
RIGHT ATRIUM receives DEOXYGENATED blood from body through VENA CAVA.
Blood goes through the VALVE into the RIGHT VENTRICLE.
Right ventricle contracts and pushes blood through VALVE then the PULMONARY ARTERY to the lungs where blood is oxygenated.
OXYGENATED blood comes from the lungs through thePULMONARY VEIN and into the LEFT ATRIUM. The blood then flows through VALVE into the LEFT VENTRICLE. Oxygenated blood then goes through the VALVE and into the body through the AORTA.
