Heart anatomy Flashcards
which areas do circumflex artery supple
Left atrium and ventricle
what area does left anterior descending artery supply
right ventricle, left ventricle and intraventricular sputum
which area does left marginal artery supply
left ventricle
which area does right marginal artery supply
supplies the right ventricle and apex
which area does right coronary artery supply
right atrium and ventricle
order of layers of heart from inside to out
endocardium, myocardium, epicardium, visceral, pericardial cavity, pariental, fibrous pericardium
what does phrenic nerve control
innervates fibrous pericardium and parietal layer of pericardium and carries pain sensation
what does vagus nerve control
innervates myocardium and visceral layer of pericardium
structure of blood vessels
tunica externa, tunica media, tunica intima
describe the myocardium
Thick middle layer of the heart, striated muscles, lots of mitochondria, single central nucleus, rich capillary beds, myocytes connected to intercalated discs
epicardium= visceral layer of serous pericardium
outer layer of heart wall, simple squamous epithelium.Contains main branches of coronary arteries
differences between veins and arteries
arteries- thick muscle wall, smaller and thicker and thin adventiva
veins- thin muscle wall, larger and thinner, thick adventitiva and contains valves
example of elastic arteries
aorta- pressure reservoir. lots of elastic fibres in T media in form of laminae
example of muscular arteries
controls distribution of blood to regions- femoral- thick tunica media has smooth muscle cells
elastic fibres are concentrated in 2 well defined sheets called the internal elastic lamina and external elastic lamina
