HEART Flashcards
study the Heart channel!
This point is found to assist with clearing Heat/Fire from the Heart & SI.
HT-8 (SHAOFU) “Lesser Palace”
Which point is the Exit point of the Heart channel?
HT-9 (SHAOCHONG) “Lesser Rushing”
What is the Hand Shaoyin?
Heart
What other channels’ points does the Heart Primary channel cross through?
Trick question! The Heart channel does not cross through any other points.
What is the typical pathway of the Heart for the following pathologies: palpitations, insomnia, hot or painful palms, thirst
Primary pathway
These pathways of the Heart channel end at the eye in some way.
Primary (tissues surrounding eyes), Luo (the eye), & Divergent (at inner canthus)
The Heart channel crosses through the Heart, Lung & ( BLANK) organs. (What is the final organ the channel crosses through?)
Small Intestine
The Heart Channel crosses through the SI channel/organ in some way. True or False
True!
Which pathway ends at the root of the tongue and the eye?
Luo pathway
Where does the Heart channel begin?
The Heart organ
This point can be useful for musculoskeletal issues like rotator cuff injury or subscapularis problems. We can also call it the Entry point for the Heart channel.
HT-1 (JIQUAN) “Summit Spring”
Helps with transforming phlegm, clears heat, & aids tremor(s) of hand & poor memory.
HT-3 (SHAOHAI) “Lesser Sea” AKA He-Sea point & Water point
Which point does HT-3 mirror (helps with paralysis, bi-syndrome, & atrophy disorders, too)?
L.I.-11 (QUCHI) “Pool at the Crook”
What is the Jing-River of the Heart channel?
HT-4 (LINGDAO) “Spirit Pathway”
Which point regulates Qi, helps with Aphasia, benefits the tongue & calms Shen?
HT-5 (TONGLI) “Penetrating the Interior” AKA the Luo-Connecting point
Known to tonify the Heart, calm Shen, help with insomnia, palpitations, and irritability.
HT-7 (SHENMEN) “Spirit Gate”
Found to help with nourishing Heart Yin, night sweating, & acute conditions/pain/bleeding disorders.
HT-6 (YINXI) “Yin Cleft” AKA Xi-Cleft point
Which point can relax the muscles and sinews (i.e., elbow & arm contraction/pain, swollen fingers)
HT-4 (LINGDAO) “Spirit Pathway) AKA Jing-River point
A point associated with helping Steaming Bone (internal heat)
HT-6 (YINXI) “Yin Cleft”
CASE: 33-year old male presents with severe anxiety, insomnia, dream-disturbed sleep, onset of mouth ulcers. Patient has experienced urine of a dark red color and his tongue is quite red and swollen, with a yellow coat. What is a point we could use first for best response? What is another point that could be helpful here?
HT-8 (SHAOFU) “Lesser Palace” AKA Ying-Spring AKA FIRE AKA Horary point
Reviving consciousness/phlegm misting the Mind, regulating Qi & calming Shen can be accomplished by this point.
HT-9 (SHAOCHONG) “Lesser Rushing” AKA Jing-Well point
CASE: Patient presents with red face, loud voice & mutters to himself incoherently. The patient seems confused and expresses tightness in the chest region. Looking at his tongue, it is red with a sticky tai huang). Additionally, his pulses is full, rapid, & wiry.
What is a point to assist this patient best?
HT-9 (SHAOCHONG) “Lesser Rushing” AKA Jing-Well/Exit point
Why? It is helpful for treating the upper end of the channel & this point is dynamic in the way that it can create fast, strong effects on a patient.
This pathway is more equipped to assist with fullness in chest & diaphragm as well as aphasia related to mental disorders.
Luo pathway
If someone feels their own heartbeat, are we more likely to find that this is happening due to the Primary, Divergent or Luo pathway?
Primary pathway
