Q

what is deoxygenated blood?

A

blood with no oxygen
it goes from the heart to the lungs where it gains oxygen then flows back to the heart

Q

what is oxygenated blood?

A

blood with oxygen
it goes to the rest of the body and gives oxygen to tissues, then it becomes deoxygenated and flows to the heart

Q

what do valves do?

A

prevents the blood from flowing backwards, ensuring it will always flow in right direction

13
Q

what are pace maker cells for?

A

produce small electrical impulses which spread through the muscular wall of the heart, causing them to contract

16
Q

what is the blood from the pulmonary vain like?

A

it came from the lungs so it’s oxygenated

17
Q

what is the blood from the vena cava like?

A

came from the loop around the body so it’s deoxygenated

18
Q

what happens after the blood leaves the atria?

A

the atria contract together and blood is pushed down to the relaxed ventricles
Then the ventricles contract and push the blood out into pulmonary artery (goes into the lungs) and the aorta (to the body)

19
Q

how does the heart get its own supply of oxygenated blood?

A

it’s supplied by small arteries that branch off the aorta called coronary arteries
(muscle gets oxygen and nutrients it needs)

20
Q

what does pumping at a higher pressure do?

A

more glucose, more oxygen, more respiration, more energy

21
Q

average bpm for adult

A

60-80

22
Q

bpm calc

A

CO=SV x HR
cardiac output (dm^/min)
stroke volume x heart rate

23
Q

what’s blood rossure measured in

A

mm/Hg

24
Q

what’s blood rossure measured in
